1 head cabbage

4 large onions

3 green bell peppers

2 bunches celery

1 bunch shallots

2 chicken bouillon cubes

1 packet onion soup

¼ cup balsamic vinegar

48 ounces tomato juice (V8)

4 cups chopped tomatoes

2 tbsp lemon juice

6 cloves garlic cloves


  1. 1.Chop all the vegetables in same sized cubes. Onions can be sliced or chopped according to your liking.
  2. 2.Put the vegetables in a large stock pot.
  3. 3.Fill with water and bring to a boil.
  4. 4.Let the ingredients simmer together for about one hour.

There might be some discomfort in your digestive system while on the diet. This will be a result of the sulfurous cabbage that you are required to eat every day on the diet.

The Cabbage Soup Diet Plan

The Cabbage Soup Diet plan runs for 7 days and you do have some choices of the food that you can eat as long as you eat the two required bowls of cabbage soup daily. Fruit, vegetables, water, meat and skim milk are essential ingredients of this diet. The seven day plan goes like this:

Day 1: Start the diet by eating all the fruit that you want on the first day (no bananas) and cabbage soup at least twice in the day. You can drink lots of water, unsweetened tea or coffee (no milk) and cranberry juice.

Day 2: Low calorie vegetables (as much as you want), cabbage soup and baked potato and slight butter.

Day 3:  Cabbage soup and any mix of the above food choices.

Day 4: Skim milk (2 glasses), cabbage soup and bananas (no more than eight).

Day 5:  Cabbage soup, fish, beef or chicken, fresh tomatoes and 8 glasses of water.

Day 6: Cabbage soup, vegetables and beef steaks.

Day 7:  Brown rice (2 cups) fruit juice (unsweetened), vegetables and cabbage soup.

With this plan you will lose between 10-15 pounds but keep in mind that the weight lost will be fluid more than fat.
